Amanda Elgin graduates from PHCC

Amanda Elgin, of Bassett, was among more than 450 students who graduated from Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville during commencement on May 17. Elgin graduated magna cum ladue with a(n) certification in General Education.

Students who graduated with honors were recognized: 3.2 cum laude (with honor); 3.5 magna cum laude (with high honor) and 3.8 summa cum laude (with highest honor).

Dr. Annie Wimbish, a senior associate at the Schlechty Center for Leadership and School Reform in Vernon Hill, Va., served as keynote speaker.
